Instructions for successful bidders

This Agreement applies to the Daikichi Auction service operated by the Company.

  • Buyer fees

    1. The buyer fee is 3% for jewelry, 3% for watches, and 5% for brand-name merchandise on each final bid price.

    2. Consumption tax shall apply separately to buyer fees.

  • Consumption tax

Consumption tax is not included in the final price. Consumption tax will be collected on the final successful bid price.

  • Settlement of payment

Settlement of payment shall be conducted through bank transfer, in principle.
Failure to settle payment by the Auction's specified deadline may be grounds for cancellation.

  • Deadline for bank transfer

Bank transfer must be completed within two of the Auction's business days after the final successful bid is determined. The article purchased will be sent after the office has verified crediting of the payment.
However, in auctions involving cross-border shipment, bank transfer must be completed within four of the Auction's business days after the final successful bid is determined. The article purchased will be sent after the office has verified crediting of the payment.

  • Bank transfer fees

The successful bidder shall bear any fees incurred when transferring the auction proceeds.

  • Bearing of shipping costs

The successful bidder shall bear the costs of shipping for articles shipped from Daikichi Auction.

  • Compensation for accidents and damage during shipping

    1. Damage to merchandise during shipment shall be handled in conformity with the shipper's insurance. The Company shall not be liable for any such damage.

    2. Damage to merchandise resulting from causes of force majeure, such as earthquakes or other natural disasters, are not eligible for compensation.

  • Entry

The Auction will issue an entry pass when you arrive. Be sure to keep it with you during viewing.
    * Be sure to return the entry pass to auction staff when you leave.

  • Bidding

Bid by the bid deadline from the Web.
The bidder who bid the highest price in accordance with "Finalization of Transaction Amounts" will be the successful bidder.
Make bidding decisions carefully, since a bid may not be revised downward or canceled after it is submitted.
No cancellation will be accepted after the successful bid has been finalized.

  • Reserve negotiations

Reserve negotiations will begin from the highest bid price at the end of the auction.

  • Follow-up negotiation period

As stipulated in Article 6, Paragraphs 2, 3, and 5, of the Daikichi Auction Terms of Service.

  • Mediation in follow-up negotiation

Daikichi Auction shall mediate in follow-up negotiations solely within the extent of mediation operations provided as the auction platform.

  • Establishment of a transaction agreement

The formal date of a transaction shall be the point in time at which checking of the merchandise won at auction is complete.

  • Finalization of transaction amounts

The transaction amount shall be the amount at which the successful bidder is finalized above the seller's reserve price.

  • Invalid transactions

If the article is found to be stolen after the auction has ended, the transaction may be invalidated and subject to return and a refund after checking the inventory and discussion of the matter between the operating office and the successful bidder.

  • Describing condition ranks and checking condition

    1. Judge ranks in general when listing articles.

    2. Describe article grade only for portions judged to be in the worst condition for the article's rank.

    3. Do not describe details that can be explained by the rank alone.

    4. The condition of listed articles will be checked through viewing the actual articles, photos, ranks, and article grade.

Notes for Successful Bidders

  • Jewels

    1. The seller is responsible for guaranteeing all details described in the listing. Judge visually all matters not described in the listing. Cases in which the information in the listing differs from the actual article, however, are subject to returns or price negotiations.

    2. No seller guarantee is provided for jewels described in the listings as "colored stones."

    3. Although the metal content is not guaranteed, the seller is responsible for guaranteeing any descriptions, such as "K18" or "Pt900," in the listing.

    4. Loose diamonds and loose color stones will be auctioned at piece prices instead of prices per karat.

    5. Cases in which the results of the determination or appraisal after a successful bid differ from the listing shall be subject to returns or price negotiations.

    6. Daikichi Auction uses the following four companies as determination and appraisal institutions for the post negotiation criteria: Central Gem Laboratory (CGL), the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Gem Research Japan Inc. (GRJ), and GemResearch Swisslab (GRS). However, where the results of the differentiation or appraisal vary among appraisal institutions or within a single institution, the results of the differentiation or appraisal as of the initial time of listing shall take precedence.

    7. Jewels other than natural stones for which the listing did not include information on whether they are synthetic, copies, or treated shall be subject to returns or price negotiations. However, please judge merchandise listed as colored stones visually, since they are not subject to returns or price negotiations.

    8. Cases in which the listing did not describe differentiation or sorting other than ordinary heating or enhancement, such as impregnation other than that of emeralds, laser drilling (LDH), treatment, HPHT, or KM processing (ILD), shall be subject to returns or price negotiations even if an appraisal notice or sorting is included.

    9. Cracks in opal are subject to returns or price negotiations.

    10. Hardware defects not described in the listing shall be subject to returns or price negotiations.

    11. Merchandise listed by brand that is found not to meet the Auction's standards shall be subject to returns.

    12. The successful bidder shall bear the cost of sorting for diamonds and colored stones after winning the auction. However, the seller shall bear such costs if the results of appraisal differ from the listing.

    13. In principle, requests for follow-up negotiation will not be accepted regarding brand-name jewelry that the manufacturer refuses to accept for repair.

  • Handbags

    1. No complaints will be accepted after a successful bid regarding matters that can be checked by viewing in person (e.g., internal or external scratches or tears, rubbing, fading, defective parts, accessories, non-manufacturer parts, non-manufacturer repairs, non-authorized modification, or recoloring).

    2. The Auction provides no guarantee for incidents regarding purchased merchandise (e.g., damage) occurring during the viewing period. Accordingly, no complaints will be accepted regarding differences in the merchandise condition between the time of viewing and after the auction ends. The Auction office also will not be involved, through mediation or any other means, in negotiations with sellers regarding such articles.

    3. Bidders are responsible for judging the conditions of merchandise before bidding. No requests will be accepted for returns of merchandise or refunds, except in some cases of merchandise that does not meet the Auction's standards.

    4. Errors in listings may result in returns or price negotiations.

  • Watches

    1. Articles listed with the terms "aftermarket" or "non-original" are not subject to manufacturers' guarantees. Judge all matters visually.

    2. Although metal content is not guaranteed, the seller is responsible for guaranteeing any descriptions, such as “K18” or “Pt900” in the listing.

    3. No seller guarantee is provided for watches described in the listing as broken or defective using terms such as "not working."

    4. Judge visually all matters not described in the listing.

    5. Matters that can be checked by viewing in person (e.g., external scratches, soiled faces, defective crowns, defective chronometers, or defective dates) are not eligible for returns or price negotiation even if not described in the listing. Mechanical precision (date or time differences) are not eligible for returns or price negotiation.

    6. Antique or vintage watches are not eligible for negotiations.

    7. No seller guarantee is provided regarding quartz watches working after battery replacement. All quartz watches with dead batteries shall be treated as nonworking.

  • Loose diamonds

    1. All contents of the listing descriptions are guaranteed by the seller.

    2. Judge visually all matters not described in the listing.

    3. The period for negotiations on returns when loose diamonds differ from the sorting bags is up to five business days after receipt of the merchandise.

  • Common

    1. Negotiations with the seller must be completed within two hours from the end of the auction.

    2. If the office has determined that a seller's reserve price is inappropriate for Daikichi Auction, it may be judged to be a misleading listing and treated as having received no bids.

    3. Handle merchandise with sufficient care during the viewing period. You may be asked to pay compensation for intentional damage, breakage, scratches, or soiling.

    4. Judge the condition of merchandise through viewing the actual articles and the photos. No complaints will be accepted regarding merchandise conditions after a successful bid.

    5. Bids, or the transaction itself, may be canceled at the office's discretion even when there are errors in the listing details or quantities due to such causes as data entry by the Daikichi Auction office.
Note that no compensation will be provided in such a case.

    6. The Company will not remove any information regarding merchandise accessories or similar matters.

    7. No inquiries or negotiation will be accepted after receipt of purchased merchandise.

    8. The Company shall arbitrate or mediate between the seller and the buyer in accordance with the operation rules in the event of a complaint from the successful bidder regarding the quality or operation of the listed merchandise after the end of the Daikichi Auction.

    9. Both seller and buyer must comply with the results of mediation.

    10. No negotiation by third parties other than Company registered users will be accepted regarding the above resolution of complaints or problems.

  • Cross-border shipment

    1. An administrative fee equal to 1% of the final bid price shall be collected on cross-border shipment. The minimum administrative fee for cross-border shipment, however, shall be 33,000 yen (including consumption tax).

    2. The Company shall bear cross-border delivery charges (merchandise insurance) for articles sold at auction when shipping them cross-border. The buyer shall bear any tariffs, bank transfer fees, or other expenses.

    3. Bids involving cross-border shipment will not be accepted for articles with bid prices of more than 13 million yen.

    4. Payments will be accepted in Japanese yen only.

    5. Merchandise purchased may be subject to tariffs, import tax, or customs clearance fees during customs clearance by the destination country.

    6. Policies on taxes and customs clearance fees vary by country. Check with the customs authorities of the destination country for details.

    7. The online-exclusive auctions without previews are restricted to domestic shipping.
